Episodes 8 and 9 -- Violent Happenings and an Escape from Monastic Ruins

Image
Session 8 started with Daumpney, Lumi, and Arpina leading the way into the dungeon.  Mortimer stayed in the rear because he was feeling very distracted.  He had a slight headache and he felt like he had two people in his head.  He had a feeling that his mother's ring was working especially hard transferring psychic energy into his body today.  But in addition to that he felt like his mother's consciousness was slowly taking up residence beside his own in his head.  He did not mention this to the other party members for fear of being thought crazy. The team found an infamous executioner's flail or morning star in a closet not far from the dungeon entrance.  Mortimer took care not to get close to it for fear that it was cursed.  No other party member showed such precautions. The team entered a smelly room that had 5 cloaks on a far wall.  The smell seemed to come from a  round pond of a strange red syrup was in the room's center.  Mortimer...

Episode 7 -- Towards the Next Place

<--Josh was not at this session.  Riikka played his character. --> Daumphney was semi-comotose while laying on the stone floor.  He was still badly hurt and exhausted from the fight against the necromancer.  The rest of the team was debating what to do next as smoke from the fire Arpina lit in the wizard's bedroom seeped into the chamber.  As the team heard rock and wood cracking they collectively surmised either the Arpina's arson or the team's other breaches of the tower's magical barriers had weakened the structure enough to make total collapse imminent. The team resolved to jump out a window.  This was an easy decision for Mortimer because the flying scroll he had used less than an hour prior was still in effect.  Lumi said she would just "misty step" out of there.  Mortimer figured he could carry Daumpney's semi-comotose body out while flying -- at least far enough to be clear of falling rocks.  Only Arpina was left without a way ...

Episode 6 -- And He Would Have Gotten Away With It If Not For Those Meddling Kids!

Image
<--The session started in the circular room shown below. --> The large tree shadow that seemed divorced from any actual tree intrigued Daumpney.  So he started investigating the wall at the shadow tree's base and found he was able to jump through the wall.  But to the rest of the team Daumpney just disappeared as they watched him.  Mortimer, who had psychic communication set up only with Arpina and Lumi, elected to follow Daumpney in case he needed help.  Mortimer intended to psychicly call on Arpina and Lumi if he needed help rescuing Daumpney from wherever he went. After his jump through the wall Daumpney found himself in a verdant meadow of lush grass surrounding the tall oak.  Contrary to the appearance of the tree's leafless shadow back in the circular room, the tree here had all of its spring leaves.  He had only had enough time to walk to the tree before Mortimer joined him.  Daumpney climbed the tree and shouted "Hellooo!!!". ...

Episode 5 -- Exploring the Mountain Dungeon

The session started in the hall of mirrors.  Lumi had just narrowly escaped petrification by a giant snake type of basilisk.  She ran past the other team members to get away from her petrifying pursuer. The monster turned its attention to Daumpney.  It failed to petrify him.  But it did bite and poison him.  He might have landed blows against the monster.  But he had to retreat beyond the monster's immediate reach.  So the monster turned its attention to Arpina.  Her legs immediately started turning to stone.  She did manage to strike the monster with her weapon. Mortimer had been standing behind Daumpney.  He had already landed two blows on the monster while Daumpney was between him and the monster.  He successfully avoided meeting the monster's gaze after Daumpney's retreat and started inflicting damage.  Mortimer cunningly lept behind the beast's head and straddled its snaky body as he sneakily delivered his fatal psychic bl...

Episode 4 -- Entering the Mountain Dungeon

Image
<-- The session started with the party at the now opened entrance of a mountain gate house that is built into the mountain along the trail of blue lights.  --> The team entered the building.  They found themselves in a nicely furnished hallway library.  There were numerous papers that appeared blank.  The team explored the room for awhile.  Daumpney and perhaps others took some of the scrolls that were on undyed paper.  Mortimer took a couple scrolls that were on red or yellow paper.  There was a table with a magically suspended spinning globe that showed Astren as well as many lands and continents unknown to the team.  Many of those other lands were labeled with alphabets never before seen by the team members.  A paper on the table had the names of all the group members written in invisible ink.  They could read the paper by holding it in front of a background torch. Two opposing doorways provided in the hallway led to other...

Episode 3 -- Into the Mountains From Oak Pine

Image
The team awoke the next day in the tavern.  They ate breakfast, Mortimer bought two bottles of barley whiskey (a Dwarven favorite), and they headed into the village. In the village they bought some items in the market place.  Lumi and Mortimer colluded to lace one of the barrley whiskey bottles with a natural sleep agent.  But in the market outside of Mortimer's presence she bought a weak poison.  Lumi also arranged to trade a powder she could find in the mountains for an Elven-wrought vial/pendant upon her return to Oak Pine. The team found clues on the community memo board. Vladimer the Bloody is the Dwarven bandit. The party left the "follow the lights" flyer and black feather on the board. The party followed a road north out of Oak Pine.  They followed a trail that forked off of the road in a north-easterly direction.  They followed it into the mountains because of a large black feather they saw on that trail. They lost track of the trail and were sligh...

Episode 2 -- Flight from the Raven

Image
<--  The team started the session in the tunnel that started in the zombie room.  They had been walking through the tunnel's darkness for about 20 minutes. Lumi was in the lead.  Daumpney was in the back, though his player was absent.  Mortimer was next to last. Arpina was behind Lumi. They reached the end of the tunnel, which was where an old wooden ladder led upward to some faint sunlight. -->
